St Theresa Girls Secondary School – Nsenyi
years of existance
St. Theresa Primary school started as a Mugigi and sub grade in 1941 in the hands of Sr, Benadettee Rukumutagya, as pioneer headmistress. As part of development the head mistress received a helper the first trained teacher (Late Sr. Cecillia Abwooli) in 1942. The enrolment of the school was very low, probably due to the tradition that women are not permanent members of the family because when they mature they join other families after marriage.
Later, in 1966/67 St. Theresa primary school was joined to St. Francis to be a fully integrated primary school. This school and its name disappeared for very many years until early 1980, when the concerned parents of this Church and the district thought of opening a school for girls, this time at a higher level. And that was the birth of the present St. Theresa Girls Secondary School Nsenyi on 1st June 1982.

As a parent, I couldn’t be more grateful for St. Theresa. The teachers genuinely care about the students’ growth, not only academically but also morally and socially. My daughter has grown into a confident, disciplined young lady with a strong sense of responsibility. St. Theresa feels less like a school and more like a community that truly prepares our children for the future
My years at St. Theresa were truly life-changing. The supportive environment and dedicated teachers helped me discover my passions and prepared me for university and beyond. St. Theresa taught me the value of hard work, teamwork, and service to others — lessons I still carry with me today.
